2004 Orange Mountain Mud

I made Mountain Mud from grapes sourced from the Manildra Vineyard. It is a selection of the finest parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the outstanding 2004 vintage. The grapes were hand picked, fermented in small open vessels and basket pressed by traditional methods. The wine was matured in imported premium oak cask for twelve months and carefully blended prior to bottling. Mountain Mud will only be made in the best years and is our limited premium icon wine. This wine was judged in 2005 as the best Cabernet with the highest score in the Orange Wine Show. A score of 56 / 60 was awarded by Huon Hooke, Toni Patterson MW and P.J. Charteris as per the international wine judging system. Only a very small percentage of wines achieve such a high score recognising this as an outstanding wine.
